In Bricen's case, his brain is affected. He is cognitive delayed; at the age of five, he operators at about a 2 1/2 - 3 year old level.
In addition, he suffers from generalized absent seizures. The seizures raged out of control this summer; at one time he was on three different medicines at once.
Seizure meds taken twice a day
He learned at an early age to give himself meds - he thought it fun
Every 30 minutes a child is born that will develop a mitochondrial dysfunction by the age of ten. The number of children dying from mito equals to or is more than die from childhood cancer.
KayTar likes to give herself meds, too, through her g-button!
